Type Locality and Naming
Along Mt. Koštar, Zirabulak Mountains. Northern K. Piven', I. A. Kim, et al., 1984 (165, p. 65). Stratotype on the southern slope of Mt. Koštar.
Synonym: Koshim Topitsa, Коштаринская т.
Lithology and Thickness
Here it is divided into two parts.
Upper - dolomitic limestones with layers of dolomites and limestones with pink clayey material. Thickness 250m.
Lower - interbedding of limestones and calcareous dolomites with layers of siliceous and clayey rocks. Thickness 230m.
Total Thickness 480m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Relationships with underlying and overlying deposits are tectonic. Schematic stratigraphic column indicates the lower contact as Maizak Fm
Upper contact
Relationships with underlying and overlying deposits are tectonic. Schematic stratigraphic column indicates the upper contact as Ingichkin Fm
Regional extent
Zirabulak Mountains, along the southern slope of Mt. Koštar, northern and central parts of the Ayrabel Mountains. Age equivalent of the Maisak Fm in a shallower facies. On the State Geological Map 500 of Uzbekistan (460), it is included in the composition of the Maisak Fm.
